It is in fact a freaking knob but I think it looks awfully similar to the Marathon symbol. You looked at the upside-down one, right? or at least imagined this upside-down? I know it's often a pair of lines descending, but it seems just as often it's a solid line, and it isn't raised above the middle as much, but it's still fairly close. I've talked about this stuff guardedly lately because I've had other potential eggs shot down, but I'm pretty sure on this, and I just got more sure taking this into account:
which was taken from this video and had only some brightness and contrast adjustments done. This appears only on the sides of the corvettes on Highlands, I haven't seen it anywhere else in the game or heard of it being seen elsewhere. It also has some differences but at the same time it's more similar with the inner circle being smaller and higher.
