In Response To: Re: I Assassinated Claude Errera *IMGs/VIDs* *LONG (Revenant1988) : This is usually what my local ones are like. The most I've had was 14 people, : but the event lasted maybe one long evening, or just a day. These are : nothing to setup because my crew would typically arrive all at the same : time (carpooling) and it wouldn't last long enough to warrant anyone : staying over, and everyone lived local anyway. : The Power issue is a very good point. I did not think of that. My roomies and

: Thanks again Claude touches on the logistics (which is what you asked for) but I want to voice another big aspect to these LAN's. Setting up EXPECTATIONS. We've had folks show up that were coming with a different mindset than the rest of us. It was kill or be killed. It was "I'm sitting here with my teammates and we're taking all you pussies on." I'm not saying you can't hold such a LAN, u do whut u want! But I do think it's important that you UP FRONT set the tone of what's to be expected. I don't like insane competitive jack-asses. You can release the Kraken in your pants from from time to time, but I prefer that folks understand the social aspect more than anything. No one wants to have driven (or spent $$$ flying!) to get their asses beat again and again - or teased for being a punk teammate. Enforce that people have to move around and spread their skills around to different teams. I broke up a LAN once long ago when two people started getting into each other's faces. You guys can't listen to me and my rules? Then fuck it, party's over, everyone leave. That's the extreme, but I think it's important to keep it in mind when you're thinking of inviting a dozen or so folks who may have never met each other to such a party. As you can see from the vids and writeups, there's plenty of playing but there's also tons of just socializing. Anyway, that's all. - m
