I'm fully aware that any online play is going to be both different from and inferior to a LAN connection. But a very, very close approximation could certainly be made, far closer than what you get with stuff like HPC's rather questionable netcode or XBC's method of simply using the LAN netcode in online play. I'm not asking for something that works, in the most absolutely strict sense, exactly like the original. I'm asking for something that does a better job of representing it than any attempt yet made, and which is easily available on console, and that is something that could be done. : A small minority of the Halo playerbase actually wants to play Halo 1's : multiplayer. And that obviously has a heck of a lot to do with the fact that it was never as available, at least from a console gaming standpoint, as the others. There's also the fact to consider that Halo 1's multiplayer gameplay has a substantially different overarching gameplay structure when compared to the series' current entries. That doesn't make it bad, or not worth bringing to light. Evidently a good number of people do like it at some level, since even with the atrocious netcode, HPC is still somewhat alive despite being quite old.
