In Response To: Jackpot Luck *Rant-ish* (Sqorck) : I am not a fan of this, I am shit when it comes to luck based stuff. I was : really hoping for a double credit weekend thing, I have yet to win ANY : jackpots of any kind. I can do skill based stuff, but this is not : something I am interested in. Make it fair where you get more each game : for playing the updated playlist, but not by giving people jackpots based : on random luck. : Giving people free stuff randomly seams like a move to cater to the lucky
: I think the whole credit system shouldn't be about skill(Maybe a little) or
: I may be way off base of how they should be but this is what I think, and I'm
I agree wholeheartedly that the system should reward me no matter what I'm doing. Matchmaking alone as a primary source of earning credits is stupid. I earn literally next to nothing in Campaign now, Forge and Customs are barely better. Custom Firefight has no excuse. Seriously, they have an elaborate system that can track all sorts of data. You mean to tell me you can't tell when I'm playing a baked-in unmodified Firefight gametype and award a normal credit output accordingly? You mean to tell me you can't tell when I'm actively Forging and when I'm just idling and award accordingly? Jeeze, even Campaign has no excuse. Why don't I get per action credits past Silver on my Commendations? To prevent farming? I'm farming ANYWAY just to get them up to Gold and Onyx! As an aside, who's bright idea was it to require 300 games to Onyx Flawless Cowboy? I know I'll eventually legitimately play 300 Campaign missions. I will NEVER, however, complete 300 missions on Heroic or harder WITHOUT DYING. Especially if I'm not actively being rewarded after each mission. My problem with the Jackpots is they don't conform to the rest of the (admittedly bad) investment system. I went over it in another thread, but the gist is this: The system as a whole is based on ignorance and a lack of transparency. You never know exactly how much you should have at any given moment in a game, which makes it impossible to, say, play for 10 minutes and then quit, because you've already hit your max Game Complete. Slot Machine bonuses provided added incentive to stay until the end. Jackpots don't conform to this, because they're entirely transparent. We know exactly how much they are, and what criteria we need to do in order to get them. The problem is, it's still random. This leads to a massive amount of annoyance for people like me, who meet the criteria, but never see a Jackpot. It feels like you're being gypped. "I've done what you said, where's my reward?" I appreciate that we're getting Jackpots, but even with the metric buttload I've been playing Defiant the last few weeks in an effort to sprint through Brigadier to General, I STILL haven't once seen a Weekend Jackpot or a "Don't Quit" Jackpot. I have, however, seen more than a few 3000 Slot Machine bonuses, and about three 6000 Slot Machine bonuses. That's been a first. I'd like Jackpots better if the values and frequency were unknown. If they said "Play this playlist this week and you stand a chance of winning a big Jackpot!" I'd be content. It maintains the ignorance of the rest of the system. I don't feel gypped for not getting one, because I don't know if there's something else I have to do that I'm NOT doing aside from just play to get it. The credits portion of the Player Investment System is broken and stupid. I appreciate it's there. I like the idea. I despise the execution. I find very little redeeming about it.
