In Response To: Re: Halo and Philosophy book soon? (Cody Miller) : That's not what I was questioning. I was saying that this series of books : presents these issues in a simplified, and often wrong way, not that Halo : was unsuitable for discussion. Please re-read my post. And my point is why must the past be the future? If they were hurting for the 'proper' kind of work that you find lacking, and here you (almost) had an opportunity to submit a piece that fulfills that requirement, why *wouldn't* you have submitted it? You're basically saying that they'll turn down anything that's actually incisive and engaging. WTF? How does that not come off as terribly abrasive? : The best philosophers were all biased toward their own opinions. How can you
I beg to differ. There are position papers and then there are papers that mean to explore a topic. As I said, the best pieces in my opinion are ones that are engaging, not simply setting up "I'm going to show you why this sucks and why my opinion is right" but instead "Let's explore this topic together and see what others have said and see how it stands up to criticism." I have seen plenty of the former from you, nothing of the latter. : Like I said I will probably read it. Me too. We should do a podcast about it. - M
