In Response To: Halo and Philosophy book soon? (Hedgemony) : So, does anyone have any info on when the book could be released? Anyone here : contribute an essay to the project? : -Hedge. Ehhhh as a student of philosophy myself, books like these tend to make me cringe. I'm sure it'll be an entertaining read, but other books by the publisher have been very light on real meaningful philosophical insight. I mean, the Matrix and Philosophy was particularly funny since the Wachowski brothers themselves didn't even remotely understand Baudrillard (he even said so), so many of the philosophical underpinnings are themselves misunderstandings of Simulacra and Simulation. I read the Simpsons and Philosophy because I like the Simpsons, and to claim that Bart embodies Nietzsche's Übermensch is just patently absurd. If he was still taking submissions, I would have written a real paper. The topics appear to be pretty soft-pop philosophy stuff. Books like this can be pretty fun, and I'd probably read it, but it's not real philosophy by any stretch.
