Well, they're fighting two radical groups on opposite sides. Anything less radical on either side would seem moderate by comparison, so really all it indicates is that the UNSC isn't neo-Communist or neo-Fascist. It could still fall anywhere in between on the political spectrum, and that's a pretty wide range.
