In Response To: Re: If you're contacted by Louis Wu on LIVE... (Louis Wu) : Bottom line - the system is not infallible. Nobody guessed my password : (though I'm really, really, REALLY happy that my XBL password is not used : anywhere else at the moment) - they either socially-engineered the info : out of a tech, or they fooled an automated system. Either way, they got : info in ways that I am powerless to stop. Is your XBL password the same as your Windows Live ID? Because if someone wanted to steal your gamertag, wouldn't they do that by recovering it to their Xbox? Which, I thought, you needed credit card information to do (not a password). Is that what they got out of the call center folk? So then where does the password come into play? Because your gamertag should be perminantly fused to your Windows Live ID, someone who stole it wouldn't be able to change that ID (according to Xbox.com, unless this is possible by calling in?) I'm confused.. anybody here that could clear this up for me? And sorry about the gamertag, Wu :(. In self defense, I went to kill you from my friends list but looks like the thief had already wiped it. On the plus side, it shoud only take you about 2 |
