In Response To: Re: More on GameCritics (Dan Rudolph) Ok...... Clarity time Multiplayer = more than one person playing a game at the same, this could mean over a network or 2+ people playing using the same machine ie Tekken or Gran Turismo 2 on the PSX. The vast majority of console multiplay is the latter, while for PC and Mac its the opposite. Halo is a console game at the moment and as there is no great online console community the lack of online multiplayer for Xbox games will make no diffence to the sale of Xbox + Halo for Xbox. The only reason there is such a fuss about the lack of online play on this forum is because almost all these people have been interested in Halo since its announcement for PC/Mac in those days you would get posts like "Halo will have a great story, but the best thing about it will be online multiplayer imagine all your mates in a jeep etc etc" These people have been drooling over playing Halo online in the same way they play Counter-Strike now, sitting at home infront of their PC/Mac with a keyboard and a mouse and an Dsl/Cable connection driving that jeep around or flying that dropship or whatever. The current iteration of Halo we see is nothing like what was in there heads when they first read about it or saw those 1st videos. They also feel hard done by because console gamers will be the first to play this game they have been waiting for and salivating over for a long time. These people would do well to wait and see what happens to Halo after the Xbox is released if the Xbox fails then what.....? if it's a roaring success then what...? who knows it will be interesting to find out.
