It feels long the first time you play it, but each consecutive time through is a lot shorter than the one before. Did bungie ever have a requirement that the halo designers play marathon? Or for the new designers that only worked on Halo 2/3 that they played the first game? Based on the feel of halo 3, it sure felt like the team played a lot more Halo 1 for inspiration.
