I remember having similar concerns about the tracks on the Halo 2 OST, and I was similarly vitriolic at the time. However, there's two things I think are worth pointing out: first of all, this track was written by an unsigned band who won a competition. They're almost certainly Halo fans too, and it seems a bit excessive to call it 'filth'. It might not be to your taste (and depending upon your viewpoint, it might not match the mood of the rest of the soundtrack) but namecalling like that isn't justified.

Secondly: as for the other tracks on the Halo 2 sountrack... well, I was never a massive fan of the Breaking Benjamin or Hoobastank tracks (although the intro to Blow Me Away, as it was used in the game, was fantastic in my view – that battle between the Elite honour guard and Brutes in the Mausoleum was superb), but the Incubus tracks I absolutely loved. And I wasn't a fan of Incubus previously (and having bought Make Yourself simply because of the work they did on the Halo 2 OST, I can say I'm probably still not a fan). The 4th Movement of the Odyssey has one of my favourite guitar pieces of all time in it.... starting off discordant and fractured, and then this single clear guitar emerges from it. It just ends too soon, in my opinion.
