In Response To: Who cares about Halo's story? Article (Conman17) : http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=152811 : This article, and some of the replies, honestly make me sick to my stomach.
This is why I've always loved Bungie's stories. They work on every level. Bungie presents the story to you in a very straighforward way initially. You know "the big picture" without too much piecing together. If you just like action, or don't want to think too hard, this is perfect for you. However, if you want to dig deeper you can. It's entirely optional too. This gives those of us who love the story a great chance to pick it apart, and as we dig deeper, things might not be as they first seemed… Bungie combines Doom and Half life. Doom's story works purely on a surface level. Those who want more are left out. The Half Life saga is told almost entirely through bits, pieces, implications, and subtle tidbits. You'd better be a good thinker and a careful looker to make sense of it. If you aren't, you're left out. Bungie does both at once and makes everybody happy. This doesn't even dumb down the story: Marathon, Myth and Halo rival the Half Life story's greatness. As such, the game will attract both crowds. I'm sure most poeple don't care so much about the story, and that doesn't bother me.
