To anyone that knows anything about game development or the entertainment industry, it's obvious that they're just using it as reference for hand animated keyframe animations. Some studios prefer to manually keyframe animate everything - for example, Splinter Cell has always been done manually. Mocap can be a pain to work with, especially when blending between animations. A game dev company that I worked at would always film themselves performing movements, such as sword fighting, dying, etc. using a video camera and then use it as a reference when animating. |
