Wouldn't the surviving members of a race be : pretty imporant? : In both the Halo games and Ghosts of Onyx, Sentinals are used to either : destroy the Flood (containment) or keep the Onyx Sphere safe. But what if : the job of Sentinals at Onyx are to not only prevent from external : threats, but also internal ones. What if the point of a "Shield : World" is not to protect those inside from a blast, but rather to : protect those outside from what is being contained within (think Pandora's : Box). The point of the Halo Installations is a sort of failsafe; if the : shield didn't work as planned, the sword is there to back it up. : I was going to post my other theory (that the Flood are the food of the : Forerunner), but this post is crazy enough. ^_~ Hmmm...I like this theory...the Pandora's Box definition is a nice touch...But it draws alot more questions than answers them..which isn't a bad thing. :-) Also the idea of the flood being the forerunners, that wouldn't work because the basic flood form is the little blobs. And they don't have an extreme intelligence to the degree of what has been built by the forerunners. So I think the flood are definitely a species of their own BUT you could be right on track in a different way...what about Gravemind..he seems much smarter and more used to handling tech than any other flood form, he could be made up of certain forerunners. So I agree with you to a degree, it's a possibility that the only surviving forerunners are flood types now. All in all, I like the speculation that's floating around...it really has a sense of finality to it...like it's all coming to a close. Sure there are a few holes left for a continuation of the series but I think the actual fight between covenant, humans, and flood alike are all coming to an end. We shall have to wait and see...maybe more will be revealed tomorrow! :-)
