To me, the true test of the movie will be if I feel the Halo mood I get when I read the novels or play the game. It has a particular style to it that catches my attention. So, if they start blazing hardcore rock songs for big battles, or go over-dramatic and have the Master Chief jump through two holla-hoops of fire, escape a random explosion by an inch, and somehow manage to save the world with a single grenade ... then the movie will not have passed my "litmus test." Give me that style, give me that feel! A lot of elements in Halo 2 TORE me apart because it went away from the emotions I felt when I played Halo and read the novels even. I hope Marty does the music, or someone who just REALLY understands. As for the director: they better be a good one, and they better have played countless amounts of Halo before they even say a word to the actors. There's a composition book with all the details of weapons, covenant, etc. but does it details the style of Halo? Dark, open, epic, with a tad of mystery and a little bit of some "ancient" elements -- that's what I get; that's what I feel. | |
