Lack of Cliché

A few years ago I let myself get hyped about the Dungeons & Dragons movie...

I remember watching it in the theatre, and watching Jeremy Irons, a good actor deliver the line, "Time to die" except he didn't just flippantly say, "Time to die" or agrily "time to DIE" he said, "TI-muh(2 syllables, takes a breath through nose)Ta-DIE" it was LAME...
Then there was a part when one of the Thieves (played by Marlon Wayans) got killed by the Fighter type with the lipstick and the questionable sexual orientation, and they did the whole slow motion death throws and the other protagonist (Ridley Freeborn) yelling "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

As the movie unfolded and got closer and closer to the end I remember thinking that anytime now, it's going to stop sucking and get good...

Cliché will definately kill this movie for me. A sidekicks or "funny buddies" or lame slow-motion death scenes... or WAY over the top acting (see above for J. Irons)
