Yeah, that's kind of unclear, but it's just showing that a jumping melee with massive damage is overkill, since the running melee was enough for the kill. Since the jumping melee is three times as powerful as the stationary melee, it theoretically kills you 1 1/2 times. It makes more sense when you look at the second chart. It does 9 "points" of damage when only 6 is required.
