| Re: Halo 2 Limited Edition Booklet | |

In Response To: Halo 2 Limited Edition Booklet (Slith) Why isn't there any record of 343GS trying to stop the Covenant from releasing the Flood, once he realized they were accessing restricted areas? Should it be assumed that they had to fight their way through Sentinels, break through locked doors and energy fields? Or is security really that bad around the most dangerous weapon in the galaxy? In Conversations, 343 seems certain that it was the Covenant that released the Flood, but in The Library, he said: "I would conjecture that the other species currently on the installation is responsible for releasing the Flood. They seem most persistant in their attempts to access restricted areas." Maybe I'm reading too much into the word "conjecture", but why didn't he suspect the humans might have been responsible? Did that part of Conversations imply that the Flood were first released before the humans even arrived? Probably even the Covenant don't know what really happened. Otherwise, wouldn't releasing the Flood be at least as great a heresy as allowing Halo to be destroyed? Did Cortana take complete control of Halo's teleportation systems, even after leaving the Control Room? I guess so, since otherwise you'd expect 343GS to use them to kill you. Obviously, 343GS couldn't just teleport all potential intruders away from the Flood. Maybe there were too many of them or something? Or maybe the grid doesn't cover every inch of Halo, or it wasn't practical to use in that area for some reason. | |
