my interpretation of Garvemind's last riddle *SP* | |

In Response To: Gravemind's final Riddle ****Spoilers***** (GryphonOsiris) When Gravemind says, : Silence fills the empty grave now that I am gone,
The first Halo is the empty grave. Silence fills it because it was destoyed and has become an empty grave with no more life, floating around space. Gravemind was present on the first Halo and when he learned it was about to detonate he teleported himself away (probably to Delta Halo). This is why he says "now that I am gone". (We know that he has the ability to teleport because he teleports Chief and the Arbiter). His mind isn't at rest because he still has questions about the Humans, Covenant, the conflict, the destruction of the first Halo etc. I believe the Gravemind is the Queen Bee of the flood hive, so to speak. I think they have some kind of collective consciousness and he is the manifestation of that. He is their "mind" in a sense and he directs them. He is himself part of the flood. He does not want any more Halo's to be destroyed because there are many Flood on the various Halo's and he wants to protect his race from destruction. He lets Arbiter and Chief free, so they can stop the activation of the Halos which will destroy them all.
