In Response To: Re: Gravemind's final Riddle ****Spoilers***** (Jillybean) : Hmm - you're assuming humans are Forerunners, which not all of us do. Humans
If you pay attention, 343 mentions that all the Forerunners died as a result of the first firing of the Halos in the cutscene before you have to kill Tartarus. This pretty much rules out the "Humans = Forerunners" theory. Now, whether the humans were the enslaved pets/servants of the Forerunner, like the S'Pht.... : I dunno, Stuntmutt's puns are pretty bad too. Nice speculation, and I'm
There are two possibilities, here: First, that Cortana cannot blow the reactors for some reason. Perhaps Gravemind 'heard' the Chief's thoughts about Cortana being on High Charity when she blew the In Amber Clad's reactors, then sent some of his Flood warriors to disable those reactors. It's also possible that Cortana could not actually gain access to In Amber Clad for whatever reason, and was thus unable to even initiate the countdown -- or maybe she's just waiting for Commander Keyes to get back in order to use her codes. Second, it is possible that Cortana already has started the countdown, and is only willing to answer Gravemind's questions because she knows that he and everything else within a couple AU will be toast within a couple of minutes. : I
I'm pretty sure we will have more to worry about. Assuming Gravemind can get enough power, he could jump the entire city into Earth orbit so as to personally ensure that the Halos cannot be remotely detonated. And, of course, if that were to happen, Earth would be fighting on two fronts, against the Covenant fleet and the Flood. ... And that could get interesting. ~Socrates |
