In Response To: The hype didn't hurt Halo 2. The secrecy did. *SP* (Sep7imus [subnova]) Good thoughts there Sep7. I would agree that hype is expected, and is needed to sell a game. Like you though, I think the content of the hype is what ended up having a negative effect. I don't think anyone can honestly say that Halo 2 is what they expected, judging from what they had seen in the commercials/posters/ect. I differ a little in the 'arbiter' line of the thinking though. Yes, it was a gutsy move on Bungie's part to have us playing as an elite and so-forth, but I think it's one of those little details that keeps this edition from measuring up to the first. I liked playing as an elite. Heck, I like playing as an ogre when I fire up Warcraft...(*laughs*)...but when I play Halo I want to play as the Master Chief. Gutsy, forward-reaching move? Yup. But I believe it took away a small chunk of the game that encourages a player to become immersed in the story. Bleh. Just my opinion anyhow. What's done is done, and it is a great game, so .... ya.
