Why not?

In Response To: maskless grunt=bad thing? (Vince)

This implies that
: there will be maskless grunts in the game, therefore, a methane
: environment that we cant breath in. While we've all dreamed of going to
: the grunt homeworld with one big gun, this may be a bad thing- anyone who
: read the books knows the spartan armor can only run for a half hour in a
: foreign atmosphere (not oxygen.) Now, maybe the NEW mjolnir is different,
: but i cant imagine bungie doing something as hokey as "it can recycle
: air indefinately". so, therefore we can almost certainly confirm a
: time limit on this level. And noone likes games with time limits like
: that, right?

Something as 'hokey' as that? Why not? In AOTCR, marines can survive outside forever. They don't die of hypothermia, thurst or hunger. And I think a half hour timer for the level would be a really bad idea.

: Perhaps we can make the mjolnir armor recycle air, with some form of modified
: chloroplasts, but i doubt it.

So THAT's why its green. Hmm...

and this also throws the marines out the
: window of that level...

Why? The ODSTs in the opening cutscene were wearing some sort of armor, that may or may not be vaccum-capable.

The Aquabats!
