Looks like the sheer face of a cliff wall to me. The building seems to be carved into the side. Which would make sense considering the background is a mountain range. And I believe this map is more like Assault on the Control Room" - only more realistic; the bridges connecting cliffs and mountains. This also leads me to believe that those are not power lines, they are support cables. And if this map indeed IS on halo - then it might actually be the same bridges that were connected to the control room in the first game.

Also, the "awkward out of place object behind the big red guy" looks like a simple "poop" to me.

I believe shadows are not affected by relative closeness to the ground, but closeness to the camera. This is probably due to framerate issues. I say this because i cannot tell if the shadow on the far left red chief exists or not.

I dont know if this was mentioned before or not, but did anyone notice the difference of intensity in the brightness of the shields of the chiefs being shot. The red one is much less intense than the blue. Is this because the blue unit is the most recently shot - and the red's shield is visually dissapating? I dont know if that would make sense, because you can see the ricocheting bullets... I really have no idea on this one.
