In Response To: Absolutely. (Jeffool) : Very good point. But as his left hand isn't on the rifle, like the guy in the
Or torso rotation could be built into the animation system. after all there has already been discussion of the chief's head following targets, why not separate facing from feet placement. A much more complex animation system, but not that much more difficult to implement. : But I'm probably reaching there. But I'd like to reach some more. Maybe the
No I think they look like placeholder sprites, that aren't quite done yet. : But let's look at the one thing that we can derive from this picture for
Actually no this can't be derived from this image, because in fact the corpses seem to have only one death pose at least when landing on their backs. The blue corpse in the forground is in what appears to be the same position as the corpse in the previous screenshot: http://halo.bungie.net/images/site/halo/screenshots/halo2/h2_mp_01.jpg This is probably just due to corpse posing being a rather low priority compared to other items. : And addressing other's concerns, on the left of the skyline looks like a
Perhaps, but climbing cables/pipes etc. doesn't strike me as quite right for Halo gameplay. : But one thing I'd like to say is to not point out that we shouldn't toss out
texture artists who want to add interest to something, that's who paints scrapes on. There isn't a whole bunch else you can do especially with metal, Of course bump maps do add some interest, but because of the dynamic lighting and such you don't want to pre-shade your textures too much, or the neat shadowing and lighting effects go all for not. : And really, what
How many consecutive battles do people survive in multiplayer when their shields have been knocked down, and they start taking hits to their health ? even in 400% health games, the number of those encounters you survive will be minimal, so that means you are rarely going to see a heavily battle scarred player in the game. I guess really what it amounts to is that something like battle scarring on player models is such a low priority because of the rarity of it, that it seems pointless. : Don't look at me like that. I'm studying to make games. It was purely a
: Anyway, my point being that the ones in Halo were based on the time they
They were based on the total number of decals in game, at some point old ones are over-ridden and faded out/deleted.
