It really did cut off on that second one like that. Hmm.
Anyway, apparently it is an acronym in Poland, but I didn't know that until today. It is also the name of the Ki Operations Daemon, which I also did not know. So, since I haven't been able to put up that web page I said I would, I'll tell an abbreviated story of the nick here.

Back in '96 (when I first got on the internet) I was Darkman (something people at my high school called me). Then, I when by Lestat for a brief while before changing to Xenophon. Xenophon I used for 2 or 3 years. One day my friend an I were discussing a project I wanted to take on - basically a computer in the trunk to carry around all my music in mp3 format. We were discussing possible names, but the names kept getting longer and stranger. It started simple enough with names like mp3box, mp3demon, audioDemon, etc. But they started getting longer. Off the top of my head I suggested "killer of peaceful dreams." I have no idea where that came from. I googled several times and never found anything, so I think I made it up. Anyway, I decided that if I used it, I would abbreviate it to KOPD.

Then a year later I managed to lose registration of my nick on Dalnet (they changed from 30 days to 22 days between logins) and someone else snatched my xenophon (and starting hanging out in #gaycafe). I decided that even if I did get my nick back, it would just create confusion, so I tryed to think of what else to use. I realized I had never heard of anyone using KOPD, so I did.
