Yeah, yeah the "Preview Message" button kicks ass, sorry. I just wanted to do this right.

The Revised Edition of my Halo 2 year anniversary story

Roughly a year ago this month, I was sitting in my room reading one my old
EGMs ,issue 150 to be exact.

The one with the Halo Review.

I remember thinking to myself: "Wow, an Xbox game made Game of the
Month. It even beat out Metal Gear Solid 2 and GTA 3." I was
astounded, flabbergasted, and a little annoyed. I thought to myself,
"This game can't be THAT good. Maybe I should check it out.".

Turns out I had about six hundred dollars I was saving up for no reason in
particular and I thought maybe I could spare few hundred just to check
this game out. But, buying a whole new console just for one game? That
seemed a little extraordinary, but I figured why not? My parents needed a
dvd player in the living room anyway.

So that very day I go to Wal-Mart, pick up the 'Box, the Game, the dvd
playback kit, and an extra controller to try the Game out with another
person. I get it home later that night after dinner, get the 'Box hooked
up and the Game started. This is where my memory gets warm and fuzzy.

I started the game on Normal difficulty and played until I got to the part in
the second level where you're inside the cave and you have to activate the
light bridge, roughly an hour and fourty-five minutes of playtime. Then I
went to bed and rested, no Halo dreams though.

The next day I was playing further along on my save game from last night. I
was absorbing it, letting it consume me. Then my doorbell rang. It was my
friend from down the street. I told him I had gotten Halo and an Xbox and
was playing it right then, he asked if he could play too. I said yes of
course.

I think about seven hours later he left to go back home and my fingers,
wrists, and forearms were sore from so much gaming, but we were only about
halfway through. He came back the rest of the week and a for a few weeks
after that we had a daily Halo co-op ritual, we'd play all we could.
Eventually I invited other friends over and let them experience the joy
that is Halo, it's a no-brainer: The game is infinitely fun. I have a
hardcore PC gamer friend who constantly bashes console games, except Halo,
because I was able to show him the light. I am also responsible for getting my
brother-in-law hooked on Halo and the Xbox.

Around March I discovered HBO in one of my programming classes. I loved
checking out the Tips 'n Tricks section and the Miscellaneous section. But
it was the Story Page that probably led to my crappy grades in that class,
it was so chock full of all kinds of speculation. This is one of my favorite sites on the net. Great job, Louis!

After a couple of months of perusing the site and lurking the forum I decided
to start posting and have been around ever since. I check the main page
and the forum every day, sometimes many times! And every now and then I
post. I still play Halo regularly and with other people, and I have my
copy of Halo 2 reserved. And after Halo 2 comes out and I get Xbox Live, I look forward to meeting many of you online for some CTF. :)

And the Halo Story Page rocks. ;) Go HBO!

And THAT's my story.
