my headset recommendation is a logitech usb headset, great sound and microphone quality

the problem is ofcourse your definition of cheap...

i comsider something that is going to last for four years, but may cost $50 cheap, where as something $10 would be cheap as long as it lasted a year

i own the logitech usb 200 headset (one step down from 300 model), and it works great

it is also compatible on both mac and windows

that is my recommendation, and it can probably found online for around $30, as i got mine at office depot for $40
