worry not all you mac usere out there for you are like me, and all who know a little bit of unix (or can read the directions on the sebsite) can get ventrilo for OS X

simply follow the directions in previous posts as though you were getting the windows client

only when you get to the page with the download links, scroll down to the server portion and download the Mac OS X server sruff

in case the directions arent clear enough in other posts (im sure they are, just to make things easier)

go to www.ventrilo.com
click on the downloads link
scroll down the to the server section, and select Mac OS X (if there are windows users interested in running a server for you and your friends, there is also a download for it)
after downloaded, go to the server setup page (the setup and application runs in unix, so learn a little unix and youre fine)
there is an entire legalities section on the site, my readthrough tells me that it would be alright to set up a small time server, and not have to pay the fee to run it

if that isnt confusing enough, i dont know what is

i am also under the impression that it is possible to start a client type session under a server download, if that is incorrect, please email me

i am pointing it out, as i did not read all the posts on the forum, and did not know if there is another existing posting about the mac info (i use one, so that is why i was interested)

if that doesnt work, we can all get panther with iChat AV, and have a mac only team chatting via iChat AV

as for headsets, i have been using a logitech usb headset (200 model) on my iBook 800, and it has been working great, plus it is only $40 at office depot, and probably cheaper online

apologies for the long post, but someone has to stand up for the mac community
