I agree. The argument that the low quality of beta or even alpha releases will reflect poorly on the company or the eventual final project, in my opinion, simply doesn't hold water. Id Software, perhaps no longer the unchallenged behemoth in the FPS space that they once were, still has a habit of releasing what amounts to little more than tech demos, and the flurry of discussion about bugs and capabilities is little more than free publicity. What is, perhaps, more on point is a fear that a bug exposed in a released alpha or beta might provide information useful in cracking the final product. |
