Bear in mind that that was posted literally *days* after Halo had been announced, before most of what we know now came to light.

It's also possible that Bungie made the decision to go 3rd person after Nathan posted this (or more directly, after several more months of development and experimenting). Halo is very much a work in progress, after all...
