Interesting report I found at MacWEEK regarding ANY G3 upgrade in ANY non-G3 original Mac. Basically it has to do with the G3 being aggressive about predictive processing and the 604-era ROMs not being savvy about this feature. When you put in an upgrade card, depending upon your video, storage, etc controllers, you could get problems, from minor to major. Newer seems to have a guaranteed h.w. fix to the problem. Sonnet claims to have a good s.w. fix. Other upgrade vendors claim the problem is extremely intermittent or doesn't exist. | |
