I think the point of the post abouve yours is that humans are always inventing something AFTER they've >plundered all resources< and stuff. i bet ozone depletion for instance, isnt a big deal and will sure help the market to develop better sunglasses and so on but the point is that humans dont stop wasting resources until they are forced to.
I mean there are matchsticks that burn 10000 hours (and are able to be turned on and of;), but you wont see them until there are all forests gone.
