	In Response To: Re: Halo/Marathon Timeline (Rincewind MoG) : Just to play devil's advocate, the buyout never contradicts the Marathon : timeline. It could very well be ancient Earth history. My theory is that Bungie died prematurely in both the Marathon and Halo timelines. In Marathon, Jason Jones joined the Army and died in the Yucatan. In the Halo timeline, the Cortana letters were sent, but Microsoft never bought Bungie and they ran out of money before Halo was finished. Despite this, Bungie fans continued to increase in power over the centuries, and controlled much of the UNSC military by the time Halo actually happened, influencing the design of equpiment such as the SPNKR-M19 rocket launcher, the MJOLNIR combat armor, Marathon-class starships, and AIs named after swords. Or something like that.
