Er... it's worth bearing in mind that Marathon is the size of a MOON -- that's a BIG ship to try and send into FTL space. Being built by freeholders in orbit around a rioting planet, I can't imagine there was much surplus energy being produced, and certainly not enough to FTL a moon. After all, the Marathon 1 Manual mentions the Tuncer Mirage Effect: "The TME is commonplace to you, humanity has used teleporters for almost five hundred years, and you yourself have been teleporting since before you were born. But you've never seen the TME cover an area so big before, and never at all without a landing pad." Perhaps Marathon is just too damn BIG. [z]
