It is a possibility. Marathon could have taken place after the Covenant wars, except, that would mean they went from Mark V to Mark IV cyborgs, and that the weapon technology, except for the fusion pistol, would have been back water. Plus, humans had jump technology, yet the Marathon doesn't.... and one more thing.... It says in the Bridge of the PoA that there is a "colony ship for sale, cheap."
