I completely understand what you're saying, I just think that this whole 'friendly' ribbing masks some real bitterness, and it just puzzles me on a very fundamental level. Granted, not everyone is really like that, but after seeing all that's transpired this past year, I could swear that there's still lingering venom, waiting for any excuse to expel itself. :)

Case in point is the poll itself... if it was truly a 'throw-away' ribbing gesture, that would mean, in my eyes at least, that it would not get as much attention vote-wise as it did. An actual interesting and/or funny discussion as to which Bungie-created villain in a game was the best at his/her job would've been quite entertaining. Ranting about how Bungie sold out and MS is the scourge of this earth? I'll take a pass on that.

But again, you're right, this whole thing is more emotional than anything else. If we keep discussing it, it'll just get more and more inflamed.
