: There is a way that it could actually be a Mark V cyborg. When the Marathon
: is launched, in 2472 there are 10 Mark IV cyborgs on board. As time
: progresses, technology on Earth does also, so in another couple of years
: the remaining cyborgs are upgraded to Mark V. The Covenant begin to wipe
: out the human colonies during this time, and the events with the Pillar of
: Autumn and on Halo occur before (as pointed out in the news at HBO for
: July 31) the Marathon reaches Tau Ceti.

about the prequel theory: i think that's not working because the entire technology is much more advanced. a complete ai fits on a credit card sized device, the player has a self recharging shield, humanity owns hundreds of colony which requires faster-than-light star drives(or at least ships which are significant faster than the marathon).

theory of halo events taking place while marathon is underway: with such an astounding leap in technology(remember the many colonies) after the launch of the marathon, why didn't they ever try to reastablish contact with the marathon? it wouldn't have been a problem to sent a fast ship after them or a light speed message which is also faster than the marathon. the colonized a hundred worlds and forgot about tau ceti?

could halo take place after the marathon series: dunno. i don't know what happens in infinty. danm, i haven't even finished durandal(just started, was hard to get here in germany). also, the timeline on ms's halo site collides with the m timeline. maybe halo plays in another dimension :).

another thing: why do the covs want the pillar of autuum's ai so badly? because they were once seriously fucked by some human ai? ;)
