(continued from previous post)

"Listen, I'm getting tired of this conversation. So you either shoot me or put down the gun, because..."

I couldn't finish talking. A strange sensation, some kind stress I've never felt before invaded me. I stopped being myself. I was absent from my own mind.

"You're turning into an agent! Oh, God, I'm going to die! I'm going to die!"

Although she was still pointing the gun at me, she was too scare to pull the trigger. She just kept repeating: "I'm going to die!"

"Nobody is going to die!" I screamed. And with these words, whatever that was happening to me, ceased.

She looked at me as if I were a ghost and dropped the gun; upon hitting the ground, the gun opened fire. The bullet barely missed me. Barely.

I ran and took cover behind a pillar.

"Please, don't go. It was an accident!"

"What was that?" I asked her from behind the pillar. "What the hell just happened to me?"

"An agent tried to take over you, but you repelled him!"

"No way!"

"I wouldn't belive it if I haven't seen with my own eyes, but it's true. It seems you're immune to their attack somehow. I don't now, maybe one of your plugs is loose."

"No way!"

"Way! You're a... How do they call people like you...? A potential. Yeah, you're a potential. You gotta come with me."

"Get away from me!"

"I know you're scare. I'm scare too. But... But..."

"But what?!"

"I don't know! Everything is so mess up."

She started to cry again.

"You must help me; we need to win the war. People like you will make the difference."

I remembered I still haven't taken the green pill for that day. I took it out of my pocket and gave it a good look: it glowed in the dark.

"Only Leela knows for sure what this thing is doing to me," I thought. "Maybe she's using me for her own private experiment, the Matrix!"

I tossed the pill away and stepped into the light. She stared at me, emotionless, until I smiled at her and she smiled back at me.

"We need a phone to get out of here," she said.

"A phone?"

"Yeah, a phone."

"What's a phone?"

"You don't know what's a phone is?"

"Some sort of pattern buffer?"

"Pattern buffer?"

"A device to store your bio..."

"Save the explanation. We need to find a phone."

"Right, a phone!"

"Let me explain it to you: a phone is something like this."

She showed me the small, black device she was talking to early on.

"This is a cellphone," she said.

"A phone?"

"A cellphone. It's almost the same thing as a phone."

"Then why don't we use it?"

"Because we need a phone, not a cellphone!"

"I'm confused."

"Just tell me if there's something that looks like this around here."

"No."

"Then we're as good as dead."

"Not really."

"What do you mean."

"If Leela started this, she can finish it too."

"Who's Leela? What are you talking about?"

"Follow me."
