| In Response To: Fan Fiction: Immune (REB) Slowly, I turned around and saw her for the first time. She was both extremely beautiful and pale; her clothes were black and made of a reflective material unknown to me; her hair was short and red. The gun was an antique model, yet the weapon itself was new. The most intriguing thing was the small device (also black) she was holding with the other hand. One extreme was pressed against her ear while the other was pointed toward her mouth. Apparently, she was talking to it. "I'm so scared!" she said. "This is my first time that I'm back in the Matrix and I don't know what's going on." "Excuse me", I said and make the gesture that I wanted to know her name. But all she did was stare back at me with fear. So I asked her: "Your name is?" "I'm Magik." "Magik, right. You seem to be confused and I'm willing to help you. All you have to do is put the gun down." "I can't." "Yes, you can. Just put it down. I won't hurt you." "You will, if an agent takes over you." "You're not making any sense." "Agents are the guardians of the Matrix. If you're not one of us, you're one of them." "This is the second time you call the ship the Matrix. You're aboard the Marathon." Her eyes become wide open. "How did you know that?" "Know what?" "The name of my ship, the Marathon!" "Because that's the name of this place!" "No, this place is called the Matrix." "No, it's the Marathon." "No, it's the Matrix." "Look, you just said that the name of your ship is the Marathon. That's right, the name of this ship is the Marathon." "You don't understand. This is not a ship, this is the Matrix." "And what's the Marathon then?" "The Marathon is the ship we're broadcasting the signal into the Matrix. My body is on the Marathon, my mind is on the Matrix." "Alright! If that makes you happy, my body is on the Marathon and my mind on 'the Matrix' too. Now, please, put the gun down." "You still don't understand. Your mind is on the Matrix, but your body is on a power plant." "So according to you, I'm not here?" "Your mind is here, but your body is elsewhere." "On a powerplant." "Yeah! Your body is on a powerplant in the real world." "I see. Tell me something, this thing about the Matrix is something the MIDA told you when you were recruited?" "The MIDA?" "Yes, the MIDA. You're one of their agents, right?" "I'm an agent of Zion." "Zion?" "The last human city." | |
