I : thought that the way he was going to do it by destroying stars (using : Jjaro-made Trih Xeem) to releive the "pressure" of all the : "weight" that would collapse. Not by time-traveling. Either way, : though, he wants to use Jjaro tech. I interpreted the ending of Infinity as saying that Durandal decided not to escape the closure of the universe ("Once I thought to escape..."), probably because he eventually decided that thousands of stars was too great a price to pay for such an end (Durandal's apparently grown soft in his old age). : But does it make a difference here to assume that the Jjaro were really : humans who went back in time with all there cool toys? Would that make a : difference to Durandal? Assuming for the moment that the Jjaro were originally human, it's unlikely that Durandal would have known that until the end of Marathon 2 at the earliest; near the beginning of M2 (Come and Take your Medicine), he says he feels "some strange loyalty to humanity", despite the fact that humanity's only contribution to his existence was "the chance discovery that made [his] rampancy possible". This would seem to indicate that Durandal either does not yet know enough about the Jjaro to know that they are human, or that the Jjaro have evolved to the point that Durandal does not consider them to still be human.
