: That's just the thing, Marathon never needed a book series. Marathon is
: perfect as is. Now has anyone seen the "Myst" book series,
: they're like fifteen pounds each, and thats on top of all the reading you
: have to do in the games themselves. I think it's better that game
: developers work harder at incorporateing crucial plot details into game
: play. But I think the problem is that we are now in a transitional period
: of game technology. It's too advanced right now to accept the pages and
: pages of text like we found in Marathon, and it isn't advanced enough to
: tell the same kind of story with cinematics. So hopefully one day when the
: technology gets there the next Marathon could be just around the corner.
The things is, after having PLAYED through the adventure, books might not be able to capture the experience, even for those with good imaginations. I would love to see a movie trilogy or anime series about Marathon, tho... something that could really immerse you in the story while telling it.
