In Response To: difference between mac fans and pc fans (Johannes Gunnar)

: Also, i have found out that pc fans and mac fans are like two teams, each
: with different interests, Pc fans mostly look for new games, play them,
: play them some more, then get bored of it, buy a new game, (and it goes
: on)

: i have seen all of my pc fans friends doing this, i dont know why (and maby
: there are pc fans that like to play old games and actually love them)

: but mac fans they buy new games, and then play them over and over and over
: again, maby stop, but always try again. so the games live longer, i dont
: think this is the person who does this, but i think it is the computer, i
: mean i have a mac and a pc, on they mac i play my marathon games but on my
: pc i do as same as above, play them, get bored of them, throw them (except
: UT, that is a great game) so there are not many pc fans that like
: marathon. tell me if i am wrong. (note: pc FANS not pc users)

: or mayby i am just trying to play wise and i just speak about some junk i
: dont know thing about... Oh well, back to sleep

: (if i offended someone with this thread then i am terribly sorry, AND DONT
: LISTEN TO WHAT I SAY, i am crazy)

Technically, I guess I'm both: When I was younger I belonged to a MUG, and if playing the marathon 1 beta net wasn't the best thing ever back then, I don't know what was ;)

So back then, I was a Mac fan boy. I had a mac plus (later an SE... huge upgrade huh?) and couldn't play anything, so went up to the university and played netgames of M2 all day long ;)

Since that time however, IMO, the mac is basically sub-par for games, in fact the only mac games I played were the Marathon series, and escape velocity. These were of course some of the best games ever.

I now basically only use my pc, with a little tinkering on my PB190cs. And you know what? The ONLY computer game I play is the Marathons. ;) I've been a PC gamer for a very long time now, and I think what you say is true: None of the games seem to have any lasting quality, any depth. FFVII and Planescape torment seem to be the only other games I've played with anything deeper than a surface plot... and I think that's a shame.

FPS seem to be the worst at this... no lasting gameplay (unless online) and no plot to speak of. And this is coming from someone who owns all three quakes.. and defends them religiously against UT.. (and did so against Duke Nukem waay back in the mists of time). Of course, I feel Marathon beats them all. I wonder if I'm the only PC'er that thinks this way ;)

Well, this appears to have turned into a life story. Sorry ;)

P.S.
I'd play cannon fodder if it'd work under windows ;)
And street fighter 3 doesn't count... it's a DC game ;)
