In Response To: Re: Jumping in Halo (Chris Bisoski) : Weapons: AR=30 pounds
: Ammo: AR=.5 pounds per clip, 15 clips, 5 pounds per grenade clip, 8 grenade
: Items: Four Biobus Enhancements (5 pounds each).
: When we add all of this, we get an insane weight of
: 622.4 pounds!!!! : Now. Our friend the Marine is, of course, a cyborg. One would assume he would
: But run across an entire asteroid, a large planet, several space stations,
: Granted, alloys will no doubt become much lighter in the next 700 years, but
: Although...this does explain why he can't jump. That's not really accurate. Assault rifle should roughly equal 10 lbs. A fully loaded pistol should weigh in at around 2 lbs; the SMG would come in at around 5lbs. These are generous estimates based on modern weapons!!! I would estimate a combat shotgun weighing in around the assault rifle, 10 lbs. I have no clue for the weight of a flamethrower or rocket launcher, but in both of these cases the weight would be distributed over the shoulders/back, so it wouldn't be too bad. I cannot estimate the weight of the fusion pistol or alien weapon for the obvious reasons :-). But chew on this--have you ever tried to hold a 15lb weight at arm's length for any period of time? Its not easy. I understand the Marine is a cyborg, but the pistol must have been designed with mere humans in mind, yes? And what the heck did they put in it to make it weigh 15lbs anyway??? Anyway, what always got me was not the fact that the marine would have to carry all this stuff, but the bulk of it. I mean, you can't just put an RPG launcher in your back pocket, can you??? hero
