In Response To: Re: folding space and anti gravity (Hamish Sinclair) : Re. your theory. The idea that the gas giant "Threshold"... I submitted that theory when Bungie Merged w/ Microsoft. I have read your convergence page carefully. But that was some time ago ... I read "transvergence", "ringworld", and "Consider Phlebas." since then But you see what is bothering me is the relationship between the folding of space and gravity. Can you point me towards anything that bridges the gap? On the subject of books, you should give mention to Reality Dysfunction by Peter F. Hamilton. Talks about man and AI and all the grey space inbetween. Maybee you have mentioned it... It's not like you to miss something like that. Oh well. I was yes! There is something I want you to read: "After the war, we lost everything, right?" says Tatsuya Matsui, resident artist for the Kitano Sybiotic Systems Project, one of Japan's leading robot desighners. "And then came Tesuwan Atomu" - a wildly popular manga and TV series that years later was broadcast in the U.S. under the title Astra Boy. Tetsuwan Atomu, a little boy robot, was just like the human boys in his shcool except that his heart was a nuclear reactor and he had rockets in his feet. With his mechanical powers he fought evildoers. "Japan was bomboed out and superpoor," says Matsui. "But in the comics, Tetsuwan Atomu lived in a future of sciencce and technology where everyone was happy." And every kid in the struggling nation dreamed of being part of that world. If Bungie shapes our dreams, then you are the guide. Power. Be carefull with it. |
