: dude.... My older bro is looking for someone to port Marathon over to GBA
: right now... I will find someone... and the there will be much
: rejoicing!!!
You might very well find someone, you may even get all the porting done, but you will never find a publisher. You know why? Even though Marathon is open-source, Bungie still hold the copyrights on all Marathon-related material. Normally, that would mean Bungie would have to publish it, or they would have to find a publisher. But Microsoft owns Bungie now, and Microsoft will publish all future Bungie games. And there's no way in hell that Microsoft will publish something for GBA, because they're currently having a staring contest with Nintendo over GameCube vs. X-box. The only way to get it published would be to find some third-part publisher and get Bungie to give up the rights to Marathon altogether.
It's really a pity when you think about it. Porting Marathon is so possible that you can taste it, and it would be very popular. A good FPS for GBA would mean universal Marathon for the entire GBA fan base (which is absolutely gargantuan), and it would sell like hotcakes. And portable 4-player netgames? I shouldn't have to say any more. The one thing standing in our way is the law. (Or more specifically, Bungie's rights to Marathon.)
