On the other hand...

On the other hand, the Pfhor always seemed to me a mingling of military stereotypes. To use a WWII paradigm, half the time they seem like the German forces, and the other half they seem like the Italians.

On one hand, they are able to roll over the enemy with lightning speed and that oh-so-superior attitude, just like the Nazis...but then on the, um, foot, they bumble around unable to react to assaults, like Mussolini's troops in North Africa. (And there's pieces of the Imperial Japanese and the Cold War-era Soviets too, on the other foot and balanced on the nose - I've run out of hands.) Depends on what the plot needs at that particular moment.

Now the image of a Pfhor fighter speaking with a bad stage-Italian accent popped into my head. "'atsa fine, Commander. Nowa we needa to kill da Marine, si?"
