As a PS to my last point, a prime example is a free remaster of this old amiga game I'd never heard of before recently came out which I mistook for a remaster of the Marathonlike, The Citadel due to the similar title. If it weren't for this, I'd likely never play Citadel as I sure as hell can't get an Amiga emulator working nor a physical machine.
Looking at this Amiga Citadel, it strongly looks like what I imagine Marathon would have been like if Bungie had stuck to the original Marathon 0/"Pathways into Uranus" build:
