It is possible that at this stage in the game Tycho was no more wiser than Leela as to your true nature. In this theory it is only at the point of being assimilated does he realise that Strauss was controlling a rampant Durandal. Hence his garbled warning to us early on in the game. It is only later when the S'pht reanimate him (in Durandal's image) does he understand the full extent of what is going on. At which stage he shows us the logs of Bernard Strauss on Beware of Low-Flying Defense Drones... so that we might also understand. : Tycho was being assimilated at the time and my guess is he jumped to the use

Fair point. While the prevailing theory is that Durandal was stalled in the 1st stage during the 300 year voyage there is another which suggests that Strauss only began to experiment on Durandal when he awoke from stasis in 2772. A year later the Marathon arrives at Tau Ceti. Seven years after that the colony is established. In fact 22 years pass from the time Strauss comes out of stasis and the Pfhor attack. 22 years to drive Durandal into the 1st stage and hold him their for years. This theory avoids all those difficult questions such as the size of Strauss' balls for putting himself into stasis for 300 years with a ticking time bomb onboard. ;) Sadly this theory dispenses with the highly amusing idea that Durandal was held in the 1st stage of Rampancy by making him carry out mundane tasks like opening and closing doors for 300 years. Which is so Douglas Adams. You see in Marathon... nobody wins. Cheers
