| In Response To: Marathon 2 is its own timeline, and other stuff (Marathoner325)
I have fantasized for some years about an alternate version of Infinity that is an interquel between M1 and M2 rather than a sequel to M2 for similar reasons as you name. In my imagined alternate-Infinity, you come from the timeline M1 ended on, and that's why you were left behind on the Marathon to be picked up by the Pfhor and start off Infinity in their custody working under Tycho. Much of the plot goes the same, except that the part of Infinity where you are working for Durandal comes, instead of in the middle of things, at the very end: you fail repeatedly to save the universe in any timeline where you stayed behind and were captured alongside Tycho, and instead you start down a path to a timeline where you went with Durandal instead, which goes on to become the events of M2.
