If you wanted to enhance and re-inforce the role-play aspects of Marathon, then you could implement some computer interface via the terminals. My tenative guess is that a commandline parser via Lua strings would be the way to go, but I've never yet done anything like that.

Many RPGs use NPC conversations to imitate tty interfaces. Freedroid RPG (www.freedroid.org) is one example which also use Lua.
